Greetings, everyone. As you all are probably aware by now, this blog has entered a light dormant state following the posting of the final part of last year's convention coverages. To make a long story short, the key reasoning for the dormancy is ongoing setup for some big projects to come (probably) later into the year, including acquiring tech for my current setup as well as preparing notes and documents. In addition, I've been hard at work with a particular passion project of mine which I plan to make a detailed blog post on in order to document its progress and how it would shape up over the past few months and years from its humble beginnings in early 2023. I know it's a niche subject, but I figured it would make for an interesting read if I can recall the almost complete history of this passion project. Besides that, I got many other blog posts on the mind reflecting on subjects from the 90's, the 2000's, and even the early 2010's that don't usually get talked about on the internet or was something I was very involved with or played a lot back in the day.
In other news, I did it. After several months of sitting on the side, my new Macintosh computer is ready to go. Of course I still need to get my hands on the newest version of Clip Studio Paint, but otherwise it should be primed and ready to delve into some creative projects. I still stand by the thought that Macintosh computers are better for productivity while Windows is better for gaming, and it's a thought that goes all the way back to my years in high school. Even on Christmas 2010 when I would ultimately get a gaming computer just to run all the games that a Macintosh wouldn't, my Mac of the era still remained my primary computer for art, graphic design, and sprite work all throughout the 2010's. Of course during the time I was having problems with the refurbished Mac from 2023 onwards, I had to divide some of that workforce between my Windows and my Macintosh to the point my Windows became my main computer for productivity for a while. And now, armed with an all new Macintosh computer with much better specs, I should be good to returning to working on many things I was neglecting throughout the past few years. Some of that neglect came from the passion project mentioned above, which is why I'm adamant on finishing up what's left of it so I can move on to projects that I know more of my friends and the few communities I linger around in will appreciate.
As for other topics I could discuss, conventions have remained a hot topic with me having already attended a few this year. I am still planning on posting abridged coverages of all the events I attended this year from March to August once September rolls around, then finish up with a second part in December covering October-December's events. Given the cost of traveling in the current era, I'm not planning to divert my attention to more distant events that I've expressed interest in until I feel comfortable enough with making longer excursions out to them. AnimeNext in the late 2010's may have been four-five hour drives to and from its venue but that was back when I only attended a few events each year and didn't have to spend as much funds at each event as I do nowadays. Maybe something will happen in 2027 and beyond, but for now I'm not planning to divert too much from the schedule I currently have planned for this year.
I apologize for this entry being a bit on the shorter end this time around. I wanted to get out something for this blog as June ends and we officially transition into the second half of 2026, and this is very much everything that has been on the mind as of lately. Perhaps I'll have something bigger ready for later into the month, but we'll see where that goes.
